The Claims Specialist will work in a claims team using the latest technology to manage an assigned caseload of routine and moderately complex claims from investigation to settlement. This includes making liability/compensation decisions, assessing damages and negotiating settlements. This role interacts with claimants, insureds, adjusters, attorneys and other third parties during the claims processing. The position offers training designed to emphasize the skills necessary to provide exceptional service to our clients. This is a completely remote position, but the applicant must live in the state of New Mexico. Coaching is an important part of your success, and success starts with a reliable presence. Attendance and active participation in training is mandatory
Training requires one week of travel to our office in Plano, TX.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains claims inventory to assess compensation/liability. Develop an action plan based on case facts, best practices, protocols, regulatory issues and available resources.
- Plans and conducts claims investigations to confirm coverage and determine liability, compensation and damages.
- Assesses the insurance coverage of submitted claims and informs the insured of problems; determine and set the reserve bond, if necessary, change the reserves during the processing of the claim, report compensation claims to the compensation group or special investigation unit as necessary.
- Assesses actual damages related to claims and negotiates claims resolution within assigned authority.
- Performs other duties as directed. Live in New Mexico
Bachelor's degree or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have 1 year of previous claims experience. Knowledge of legal liability, insurance coverage and medical terminology is beneficial. Proven communication, analytical and negotiation skills are required. Ability to provide information clearly, concisely, ability to build effective relationships. A license may be required in some states. Ability to travel to Plano, Texas for a 1-week internship
