Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Perform toxicological risk assessments for various health-based exposure limits (HBELs) such as ADE, PDE, ADI, OEL, etc. Design, planning and supervision of pharmacology, safety pharmacology and toxicology studies. Conducts Environmental Risk Assessments (ERAs) and oversees environmental studies to support such assessments.
- Assess and resolve qualification issues related to contaminants, degradants, and equipment, including extractables and solubles evaluations, and genotoxicity evaluations in accordance with ICH M7.
- We help select and validate contract testing facilities for use in GLP and non-GLP studies, ensuring the quality and integrity of data from controlled preclinical sites.
- Evaluate available approved prescribing data from several global regions to determine dosage parameters (minimum therapeutic dose and maximum daily dose) for humans and animals. Understanding of appropriate Viatris Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and adherence to laboratory SOP guidelines and other related practices. Writes and reviews departmental investigation reports, protocols, guidelines and SOPs.
- Provide support in the research and preparation of regulatory research documents, technical scientific analyzes and position papers (eg, IND/NDA documents, marketing authorization applications, etc.). Represent the department and Viatri in meetings with global health authorities and participate in internal meetings.

The minimum requirements for this position are:
- Applicants must have an earned PhD in toxicology, pharmacology, or related fields, an earned master's degree in an appropriate field, and at least 7 years of full-time professional post-baccalaureate work experience (or part-time equivalent) in toxicology/pharmacology. , or must have an earned bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and at least 10 years of work experience after matriculation (or part-time equivalent) in toxicology/pharmacology.
- You should know the biological effects of pharmaceutical materials (APIs, excipients, additives, etc.) on the human body. Knowledge of the WHO drug development rules, standards and guidelines is essential. Knowledge and application of GLP and ISO rules required.
- You must have effective verbal and written communication, organizational and computer skills. Must be able to interact with a diverse work group in a team-oriented environment and be able to clearly and concisely communicate performance expectations. The position works semi-automatically. Employees can be directly supervised in the position.
- Must perform supervisory duties in accordance with organizational practices and applicable laws.
- Duties may include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; performance evaluation; rewarding and disciplining employees; complaint handling and problem solving. You must have knowledge and experience in toxicology/pharmacology, knowledge of drugs and experience in setting health-based exposure limits.
- A doctorate in toxicology/pharmacology is not required. Toxicology certification/registration preferred Educational qualifications in unrelated biomedical fields.
- Ability to read and interpret extensive and complex research documents. Ability to write scientific reports and technical correspondence. Ability to work with managers and communicate abstract concepts.
- Ability to present at high levels of the organization and to groups outside the organization.
- Ability to solve equations, apply technical mathematical concepts and perform complex calculations. Ability to solve problems with complex variables using non-standard solutions that require independent judgment and analysis. Ability to draw conclusions and use deductive reasoning without predetermined procedures to solve complex problems.
- Usually sits at a table or desk. Sometimes sitting, standing, walking or bending over. May require standing; to walk bow bow down; to bend to kneel; and go up the stairs. May require use of arms and hands. Requirements for seated lifting. Regular travel is required. Normal office situation
